PTA Programs & Services

Welcome to the Programs and Services page.  Through the generous participation of our PTA members, the Lincoln PTA is proud to sponsor several programs, services and events throughout the year.  Below are just a few of the enrichment programs we help support.

Hands On Art

Lincoln PTA supports Hands on Art (HOA) with supplies and volunteers.  Each month a different art project is implemented by HOA docents who have been trained through South Bay Hands On Art. Our students receive information about the artist and the technique they used to create their masterpiece. The Hands on Art program draws children into their subject matter and gives them the freedom to touch, handle and experiment with art materials and various techniques. They are encouraged to look, ask questions and to find their own artistic expression.

South Bay Hands on Art is a non-profit, volunteer organization. Visit South Bay Hands On Art  to learn more.

Hands on Cooking

Lincoln PTA funds the Hands on Cooking program at Lincoln by partnering with The Culinary Kids Academy, whose motto is “Where Laughter and Learning Are the Two Main Ingredients!”  Their teaching methods have helped countless children embrace their academic subjects, as well as increase their self-esteem and independence! Be it Math, Science, History, Art, Safety, Nutrition or Peer Interaction, Culinary Kids Academy utilizes a fun “stealth teaching technique” that has students completely unaware they are growing in vitally important and impactful ways. They may think they are just having a blast cooking for an hour, but what they are truly doing is cognitively processing information and interactive experiences that will serve them well both socially and academically for a lifetime.

Family Nights and School Assemblies

PTA fundraising throughout the year helps support family nights and school assemblies with little to no cost to our families. In the past these events have included fun events such as

  • Movie Night
  • International Night
  • Talent Show
  • Dr, Suess Night
  • Mother /Son and Father Daughter events

Assemblies

Our Assemblies Chair works closely with Principal Tasker to bring enriching and educational assemblies to Lincoln.  Check back soon for information on 2016-2017 school year

Reflections Art Competition

National PTA's Reflections welcomes students of all grades and artistic abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Encourage your child to be one of the thousands of students who will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories:

  • Dance/choreography
  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Film production
  • Music composition
  • Visual arts.

Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round. Please review.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a reading program for students in the 3rd through 5th grades. Students read books from the assigned reading list and come together in teams to test their knowledge of the books they have read.  The student competitions are game based and help promote critical thinking, sportsmanship and teamwork. As reigning champions of the 2015-2016 Battle of the Books, we are proud to host and participate in the fun again this year.   Registration for Battle of the Books is available to all students in the 3rd through 5th grades.  Winners of the fourth/5th grade competition will go on to compete at the district level.  More information can be found on the Lincoln PTA Happenings website

Class Field Trips

Lincoln PTA funds two field trips per grade each school year.

Field trips are planned by the teachers and have included places such as Centinella Farms, LACMA, Griffith Observatory, The Sea Lab, The Tree People, musicals and many other educational activities.
