Principal's Message

Principal's Message

Dear Lincoln families,

Welcome to the start of the 2017-2018 school year! I am honored to be the new principal of Lincoln Elementary and a member of the Lion community. Whether you are returning to Lincoln from your summer break, or if you are new to our school, we are pleased to welcome you to our distinguished school.

To give you a little background history, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Arts in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University. I come to you from Adams Middle School where I had the privilege of serving as its assistant principal for the past two years. Prior to that, I was a special education teacher at Redondo Union High School. I began my teaching career with Teach for America in Watts, Los Angeles at Markham Middle School. Before teaching, I worked as an instructional aide since age fifteen everywhere from Dapplegray Elementary in Palos Verdes to Leuzinger High School in Hawthorne.

Lincoln Elementary is a destination school. While at Adams, I quickly learned that, “Lincoln Pride,” meant something special. The community and staff possess a reputation for active involvement and whole child focus. What does that mean? We value that our kids learn by doing. Whether in the nutrition garden, during MindUp activities, or bringing the content to life on Wax Museum Day, when our students are engaged, they learn and grow. I share this value with you, and together we will continue your outstanding work to educate our children in a safe and enriching environment where they can develop a love of learning.

Know that my door is always open, and I encourage you to visit with questions, concerns or just a friendly hello for the new principal.

I look forward to a successful and rewarding school year!

Jason Johnson
